Lots of miles, not many pics.

Yesterday had two options, either I got up early and hot footed it to the Motorama auto museum in Wisconsin or I slept in and hit a couple stops in Minnesota. I didn’t get up early.

The first stop (and, spoiler alert, the only stop that went to plan) was the SPAM Museum. Unsurprisingly it was kinda hokey, being a brand run museum and all, but it was free, there were samples of SPAM being handed out, and they had a corner devoted to the Monty Python SPAM sketch, so a win overall. I did buy some cans of their less common varieties, including two only sold overseas.

From there I went to St Paul to check out the Wabasha Street Caves. Dug out in the mid 19th century, the caves have been used as a speakeasy, a dance club, a banquet hall, for storage, and to grow mushrooms. Unfortunately it was closed for the day. I took a photo of the outside and left. On the way out I passed the cult of Scientology.

With over 600 miles to cover yesterday at this point I needed to hammer down and push it to Houghton, despite making so few stops. I finally made it to town at midnight.

Houghton is the site of the rally, but I still had a solid tourist day this morning. Not sure if I’ll have time for an update post tomorrow or if it will have to wait until Sunday though.

That Scientology building is fucking huge! I ended up driving by it once and was shocked at its size and the fact that it even existed in Minnesota
